If you haven’t noticed we do things a little different here on our farm. We love to involve our kids in every part of the farming operation and even encourage them to pursue their own business interests here on the farm or elsewhere. It’s always interesting to see what new ideas this type of encouragement will lead to.
Two years ago our youngest son, Seth, made the decision to pursue his passion of breeding dogs. Over the last two years, he has graduated from high school, built a beautiful dog kennel, purchased two dogs, and started working full-time as a carpenter. He also continues to help us on the farm as needed. He especially enjoys planting, hay making, and harvesting.
His venture began with the purchase of two dogs. The first was a female English Cream Golden Retriever named Bailey. She was followed a few weeks later by a male Standard Poodle named Ceasar. Our family has greatly enjoyed watching these two sweet pups grow into loving, playful mature dogs.
All of Seth’s planning and investing finally became a reality when he welcomed his first litter of seven Goldendoodle puppies four weeks ago. It has been an exciting time for the whole family. Seth has been working alongside Elizabeth who does the bulk of the day to day work of puppy rearing. If you would like to learn more about Seth’s puppies, visit his website at www.hesterbergdoodles.com.
In the future, Seth has plans to breed other types of Doddle-cross dogs. He is doing a lot of studying on breed types and genetics. He wants to breed in an ethical way that will produce strong, healthy family pets that will be with a family for many years.
We are especially proud of this young man and all of his hard work!
